Saxophone Overhaul Process
-
Disassembly
Upon examination, body is straightened. Then, your horn is taken apart and the body and keys are cleaned with precaution taken to not damage any existing lacquer or finish on the keys. All rods, keys, screws are unfrozen and cleaned as well. All existing oil and grease is taken off the horn and its parts.
-
Prep Work
Old adhesive is removed from all key cups. Key cups are flattened on a bench anvil. Tone holes are checked and touched up without filing to insure a great foundational pad seat surface. Rods are spun and straightened. All Posts are checked. Keys are checked for lost motion and swedged for tight key action. Springs are balanced. Neck is swedged and fit to insure an airtight seal.
-
Pad Fitting
All pads are dry fit to match each individual key cup. Your choice of pad and resonator is used. We normally use high quality pads to insure the highest degree of seal and snap. Resonators are used depending on personal preference. We stock every possible style of resonator. All new corks and felts are shaped and cut to each key.
-
Assembly and Regulation
The horn is put together in the appropriate order. The pads are seated with a nice snap under the fingers and covering.
-
Play Test
The horn receives an extensive play test. Horn is tested to insure the pad seat will last and then checked again in the morning for final tweaks before pick-up/shipment.
